Parts of electrical and electronic components for energy management and industrial automation are manufactured in the factory in Turkey. For the expansion of the production there was a need for additional bulk storage for silica powder (SiO2), including pneumatic conveying to the mixers where the product is further processed.

Solution
TBMA has supplied two new bulk silos for silica powder, equipped with special discharge systems, integrated dust filters and radar level measurement. The silos are placed directly above the high-pressure pneumatic conveying system that delivers the quartz powder to the existing mixers over a distance of approximately 50 meters.
In accordance with the requirements for dense-phase pneumatic conveying over this distance, the pressure vessels are equipped with an automatic valve system for fluidization and a correct composition of the air-powder mixture.
Implementation
The silos are loaded from bulk trucks, controlled by radar-controlled level reporting. Reversed jet filter units provide ventilation and dust separation during loading.
As soon as there is a demand, the discharging system starts and the pneumatic high pressure conveying vessel is filled with silica powder to the preset amount. After this the inlet valve closes and the vessel, now filled with product, is pressurised. The outlet valve opens and the powder is conveyed to the relevant mixer. After this, the outlet valve closes and the transport cycle starts again. The cycles of filling, pressurizing and transport follow each other in a very short time until the mixer is filled with the correct amount.
